Harrisburg
Pennsylvania
January 2012
Lisa and I make a stop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on our way home from our successful summit of the highest point in Delaware, Ebright Azimuth. I show her the house where I allegedly grew up, the capital building with its impressive dome and one of my favorites, the Susquehanna River.
I mention this in my column titled The Cornish-Windsor Bridge: “Ordinarily, borders between two geopolitical areas divided by rivers are drawn right down the midline of the water, equidistant from each shore.” I then proceed to talk about how this isn’t the case in Cornish and Windsor. However…

As we stand on the shore of the Susquehanna River just a few hundred feet from my boyhood home, we stand in Pennsylvania. On the opposite shore of the Susquehanna River is… Pennsylvania. How do they do that!
