Very close to us when we are on the summit of Mount Frissell, the high point of Connecticut, is Bash Bish Falls, a 60-foot waterfall which is the climax of cascading water as it tumbles through a series of gorges. The original Bash-Bish was a person, a Native of excellent babe-osity. She had a good personality too, I’m told.
The other babes in the Mohican community, out of jealousy, accused Bash Bish of adultery and sentenced her to death. They strapped her to a canoe and set her adrift atop the falls. Just before going over, a halo appeared around her head and her body was encircled by a ring of butterflies. And then over she went, ass over teacup.
Upon subsequent search, parts of her broken up canoe were found, but never her body. The community decided she was a witch. To this day, folks report seeing her image around the falls.
My, how times have changed. These days, anyone who floats with the butterflies would not be labeled a witch. She would be racking up TikTok hits.
